As a simple explanation, when you eat too many carbohydrates (carbs), your body burns some of those carbs for energy and stores the excess carbs as fat. When you eat fewer carbs, especially refined carbohydrates such as white flour and sugar, your body changes to burning fat.
Atkins works by reducing the amount of certain carbs in your diet to help change your body from predominantly carb-burning to fat-burning, helping you to lose pounds whilst eating healthily.
