BIOEFFECT EGF Serum's secret weapon: Epidermal Growth Factor technology

Read more about the Epidermal Growth Factor technology behind BIOEFFECT EGF Serum and hear the science behind the skin care phenomenon.

What is Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF)?

BIOEFFECT EGF Serum: The only plant-produced Epidermal Growth Factor

Epidermal Growth Factor is a natural protein known as a cellular activator which is produced within skin cells.

The effect of EGF on skin cells is well documented. In 1986 biochemists Stanley Cohen and Rita Levi-Montalcini's discovery of Epidermal Growth Factor and its ability to stimulate cell renewal was awarded the Nobel Prize in Medicine. In 2011 Dr Ronald L. Moy, president of the American Academy of Dermatology, hailed EGF as skin care's next big thing, saying: "I believe EGF will be the next anti-ageing breakthrough in skin care products."

How can EGF technology help improve my skin?

When we are young we have enough growth factors to maintain a youthful appearance but with age these decline, contributing to the deterioration of collagen and elastin. BIOEFFECT EGF Serum uses topical EGF, mimicking the effect EGF naturally has on young skin.

How is the EGF in BIOEFFECT EGF Serum different from other EGF skin care?

BIOEFFECT EGF Serum: The only plant-produced Epidermal Growth Factor

BIOEFFECT EGF Serum is the first skin care product to contain Epidermal Growth Factor produced in plants.

Traditionally growth factors are created using proteins produced in bacteria (E. coli), hamster cells or yeast. However, when EGF is produced in this way, without being adequately purified, it can contain endotoxins and other unwanted contaminants and therefore there's a potential risk of allergic reactions when used in skin care products. By producing the EGF cellular activator in plants, as BIOEFFECT does, it's possible to achieve a high level of purity and activity, significantly reducing the chance of allergic reaction.

In fact, BIOEFFECT EGF Serum contains only nine ingredients* that are necessary to maintain and stimulate the natural function of the EGF cellular activator and is free from preservatives, fragrances, colourants, and other non-essential additives.

BIOEFFECT EGF is made during eco-friendly, carbon neutral production.

The EGF used in BIOEFFECT EGF Serum is produced in barley, grown in volcanic ash and watered with spring water in large greenhouses in Iceland, using renewable geothermal energy. This "green" biotechnology makes it possible to create a purer and more active growth factor for use in the BIOEFFECT EGF Serum .
